he Timișoara Christmas Market remains one of the events that draw the largest number of people into public spaces and that, year after year, generate high expectations within the community.

From its opening on November 30 to the present, the Timișoara Christmas Market has attracted approximately 1,730,000 visitors to the city center, from Romania and abroad, according to the Timișoara Municipal House of Culture.

The way in which the public experiences this event was analyzed in detail in a sociological study conducted by university professors Vasile Gherheș and Ciprian Obrad.

The results show that 75% of participants rated the organization with scores between 8 and 10, indicating a high level of public satisfaction.

More than half of respondents stated that they had also attended previous editions of the Christmas Market, while two thirds said they returned multiple times throughout the event.

The Christmas decorations and lights were appreciated by over 80% of respondents, along with the organization of the market across the city’s three central squares. The atmosphere in Victory Square and Liberty Square, the concerts and performances, the ice rink, children’s activities, and the presence of traders all contributed significantly to the overall visitor experience.

“Overall, the collected data outline the image of an event with a major impact on the city’s cultural life, perceived as a space for social interaction, accessible cultural experiences, and a festive atmosphere. For the Timișoara Municipal House of Culture, this study represents an essential working tool, allowing future editions to be adjusted and developed in line with the needs and expectations of the community,” representatives of the Municipal House of Culture stated.

The Christmas Market will remain open until January 7, 2026.
